Rock-bottom Hertha Berlin's nightmare season continued as they lost their eighth straight Bundesliga game, this time against Nurnberg.
The hosts had the worst goalscoring record in the division going into the game but Michael Oenning's team were 2-0 up after just 26 minutes with goals from Daniel Gygax and Albert Bunjaku, with the latter making it 3-0 on the hour mark.
The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for Nurnberg, who improved to eight points and mov! ed up to 15th.
Hertha remained on just three points after their eighth straight loss.
The hosts jumped ahead after 18 minutes through Swiss forward Gygax. Hertha goalkeeper Sascha Burchert made a fine save from Mike Frantz's header but the ball landed at the feet of Gygax, who steered the ball through Burchert's legs from six yards out.
Nurnberg hardly looked like the lowest-scoring team in the league as they doubled the advantage just eight minutes later. Patrick Ebert lost the ball in the midfield and the hosts launched a counter-attack with Marek Mintal crossing to a wide open Bunjaku, who chipped the ball past Burchert.
The hosts nearly made it 3-0 just after the half-hour mark as Frantz and Gygax were both unmarked in front of Burchert after a high cross but could not strike home.
Bunjaku shot wide in the 58th minute but gave the hosts a three-goal lead two minutes later, blasting home from 18 yards into the bottom left corner to trul! y kill off Hertha.
